Modifying Your Generator for Off GridDouble your Charging power from your existing generator!Your system probably operates from a single inverter. The inverter is also used to charge the system batteries when they are low. There is a problem. Almost every generators produces 240V power ,however, the inverter uses only 120V AC power. In effect, your inverter can only access half your generator's power. A typical 5kW generator therefore only has 2.5kW (20A) available to each 120V leg. With 20A available to the inverter for charging of the battery array you may not be charging or equalizing your batteries efficiently. Worse, you're wasting fuel as the generator will have to run much longer and your batteries may not be coming up to full charge. A autotransformer can be wired between your 240V generator plug and your inverter to double the amperage available at 120V from your present generator.
Automatically start the generator based on battery voltageIf your inverter (or if you don't have an inverter) is not equipped to trigger your generator to start, we have a variety of generator start controls to initiate the starting of your generator based on battery condition.
Generator Start Control Most generators are not
equipped to start and run remotely based on a signal from another device. There
are and we have
generator auto controllers through our PowerToGo generators division that
can manage most generator to start and operate based on a two wire start signal
from your generator or a generator autostart device based on battery voltage.
Propane ( LPG) Fuelled Block Heater for Water Cooled GeneratorsWe have propane fuelled block heaters for that really cold spell. Our block heaters use convection to circulate the wared water and require no electricity. They will operate from a standard BBQ tank.
